Mindfulness

Movement

“THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN INCREASING ITS SPEED.” – Mahatma Ghandi

Meditation

“Meditation will change your life for the better, enhance your physical health, improve your sleep, and help you achieve your goals, both material and spiritual.”  – Deepok Chopra

Mindfulness

“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives.  It’s about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment.  We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation and healing.”  – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Movement - Tai Chi Easy

“Tai Chi is often described as ‘meditation in motion,’ but it might as well be called ‘medication in motion.’  There is growing evidence that this mind body practice…..has value in treating or preventing many health problems.”  – Harvard’s Women’s Heath Watch, May 2009

Why Learn To Meditate?

Meditation has become more popular over the past few years, for good reason.  Research shows that meditation is beneficial for stress reduction,  better focus and overall well-being.   Meditation is used in many settings including businesses, health centers and classrooms.

“Meditation is a word to describe the many techniques and practices, both modern and ancient, which settle your nervous system and train your brain to be more focused, engaged and

less reactive.”

Sarah McLean, Simple Easy Every Day Meditation Method

In our changing world resilience is an important quality to cultivate.  Evidence is showing that mindfulness has been linked with resilience.  Researchers Badri Bajaj and Neerja Pande, wrote in the Journal Personality and Individual Differences, “Mindfulness training could provide a practical means of enhancing resilience, and personality characteristics like optimism, zest, and patience.”

Some Benefits of Meditation Include:

  • Reduces the stress response
  • Optimizes the immune system
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Improves sleep
  • Increases mental clarity
  • Increases creativity
  • Increases calmness and relaxation

Don’t think you can meditate?

You’re Not Alone.  But I’m Here to Help!

Many people think they can’t meditate, but anyone can learn to meditate. There are so many misconceptions about meditation, that some people give up before they even try.  One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to stop thinking or clear your mind.  It’s the nature of the mind to think, so thoughts will arise and that’s okay.  It’s just a matter of bringing the attention back to whatever you are focusing on.

Meditation is training your attention.  Like any skill, meditation just takes practice.  There are also different types of meditation, so we can work on getting the right program that works for you.  Getting some guidance and coaching to start can make it easier, so that you can create a sustainable meditation practice.

You’ll find that the benefits of meditation show up when you are out in the world.

What?  No Social Media?

One of the biggest objections I get from people about why they can’t meditate is time.  So instead of reading social media post from me, I would rather you take the time to meditate.

I may do some social media in the future, but for now, I am inspired to give you time to meditate.

“When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.” – Peace Pilgrim

“Peace.  It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work.  It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.”    –Unknown
